FPL Differential Picks – Gameweek 3

Welcome back guys, I hope you’re all doing well and seeing green arrows. At the start of the season, it is certainly safer to go “template” and try to not be differential without having some numbers to back up your choice.

If you do find yourself falling behind the pack, don’t worry, we have you covered and today I’ll be diving into the best differential options for this Gameweek. So let’s take a look at the five options I have chosen.

Stats: Fantasy Football Fix (@FantasyFootyFix)

Adam Armstong (£6.0) – 3.1%

Adam Armstrong - The Differential

Fixture: Newcastle (A)

Many people have been speaking about Adam Armstrong but as you can see by his ownership, no one seems to be bringing him in. I understand no one is really rating Southampton’s chances this season however we can’t ignore eye tests and numbers.

This season so far:

  • Goals: 1
  • Shots in the box: 4
  • xG: 0.88
  • Big chances: 2
  • Touches in the box: 9
  • SoT: 3

20/21 Championship season:

  • Goals: 28
  • Assits:

Armstrong has Newcastle next meaning more and more FPL managers will be eyeing him up. I think he is the type of player that will score goals anywhere he is. Armstrong is quick, takes up good positions and based on his stats at Blackburn (see above) we can expect goals.

Adama Traore (£6.0) – 1.2%

Adama Traore - Differential Pick for GW3

Fixture Manchester United (H)

I understand Manchester United isn’t the greatest fixture for Adama to be coming into this week. However, we need to plan ahead and Wolves’ fixtures swinging in Gameweek 4 for the better.

This season so far:

  • Goals: 0
  • Shots in the box: 7
  • xG: 1.48
  • Big chances: 2
  • Touches in the box: 23
  • SoT: 2

If you have been watching the first two Premier League games for Wolves, you will know that Adama should already be on the score sheet at least once. He had a hat full of chances against Spurs but couldn’t quite finish any of them off. A haul is on the horizon for Adama so getting him in for United might not be a bad option, also they allow you to plan ahead.

Gabriel Jesus (£8.5) – 4.1%

Gabriel Jesus - Differential Pick for GW3

Fixture: Arsenal (H)

Jesus played really well against Norwich, this is the reason why he’s been on the lips of many FPL managers this week. He took up a wide right position and he made a huge difference. We could see Jesus start more games in this position and for FPL managers this will start to bring him onto the watchlist.

This season so far:

  • Goals: 0
  • FPL assists: 2
  • Shots in the box: 1
  • xG: 0.07
  • Big chances: 2
  • Touches in the box: 9
  • SoT: 0

I have to admit the stats are not pretty, however, we should consider Jesus a decent option. He passed the eye test with flying colours vs Norwich and I can certainly see him being picked again as a right-winger against a very fragile Arsenal side at the weekend.

Jarrod Bowen (£6.4) – 1.3%

Jarrod Bowen - GW3 Differential Pick

Fixture: Crystal Palace (H)

Bowen has always had a place in my heart, for some reason he seems to feature in this segment as often as Ferran Torres if you’re an OG of this article then you’ll know I also love Torres… However, I digress. Jarrod Bowen has looked in great form in West Ham’s opening fixtures.

This season so far:

  • Goals: 0
  • Shots in the box: 1
  • xG: 0.56
  • Big chances: 1
  • Touches in the box: 8
  • SoT: 2

West Ham faces Crystal Palace in this round of fixtures. It’s easy to say that Crystal Palace are already not in great form, however, they have undergone major surgery to the starting 11 and squad in general. It would be a good time to face Crystal Palace due to having a new manager and mass outgoings.

Dele Alli (£6.5) – 2.9%

Dele Alli - Gameweek 3 Differential Pick

Fixture: Watford (H)

Dele seems to be in favour under Nuno, meaning that we will see him get more game time this season. This doesn’t mean that he is going to find inspired form, however, it does mean he increases his chances of attacking returns and contributing to Spurs this season.

This season so far:

  • Goals: 1
  • Shots in the box: 1
  • xG: 0.76
  • Big chances: 1
  • Touches in the box: 5
  • SoT: 1

Dele faces Watford & Crystal Palace in their next two fixtures, meaning that he may be your way into that Spurs attack without having to break the bank. He isn’t everyone’s first choice clearly but he may well give you the perfect opportunity to climb rank.
