Rey’s GW1 Team Reveal

Rey’s GW1 Team Reveal

Being a manager who scours through Twitter, FPL tools and articles for the best assets to choose this season, I have been set on a nucleus of 11 players in my squad for a week now.

With GW1 just around the corner, I am quite content with the draft below.

The second most popular GK on FPL was always on my radar and allows me to have the safety of the template pick without the high spending for a premium. He made a difference when playing last season and I expect a 120+ point return.

Never been left out of any drafts. With his end of season form and the favourable fixtures, Trent is nailed in my team.

With myself never having the initial intention of going triple Liverpool, this is a gift that I could not ignore. I expect the Greek to start both of the opening matches. Should he not, it’s a low gamble considering his price.

A fantastic 2021 for Shaw which I expect to continue should he recover from his rib injury. With the imminent signing of Varane for Manchester United, I expect an improved score for Shaw.

It’s Salah, you never start a season without him. That is all!

B. Fernandes

I made the fatal error of not selecting Bruno at the start of last season and paid dearly. I won’t be making that error again. His statistics are astounding which I feel won’t slow down.

Under-priced in my opinion and fixture proof. He always looks like a threat and his stats of chances created and xGI advocate he should be able to continue this.

This spot was initially for Buendia. However, with the hip issues making the Argentinian doubtful, Barnes is a viable short term asset to have in my team. The Englishman has been very impressive in pre-season and has not shown any signs of his injury from the last campaign.

Record-breaker in the championship last season and I am confident Toney can perform in the premier league. With his ownership being so high, it’s a risk worth taking without being heavily punished should it fail.

This position was “locked” on Watkins until the signing of Ings. I fully expect the former Saint to be the spear in Aston Villa’s attack and return well for the opening three fixtures.

With enticing opening fixtures and summer of rest, I am confident Antonio will hit the ground running. He is always a risk-based on his hamstring issues, but I don’t expect that until later in the season.

Best value 4.0m GK who could start should Bachmann not perform.

Should have had attacking returns last season, I expect him to break that duck and celebrate by releasing that glorious hair.

Not expecting to play him much, but a decent 4.5m to cover should injuries occur.

Having a playing Arsenal defender priced at 4.5m is a bargain in my opinion. The fixtures turn well from GW4 onwards and that’s when I will start to play the Englishman.

Budget remaining

I have left 1.0m in the bank to allow switches between assets. This will be very useful should I want to bring in the likes of Kane or the impending Lukaku (at the behest of Bruno). Also, with the fixture swings for the likes of Aston Villa, I can move to better assets without taking any hits (-4).

Some thoughts:

  • Should Kane sign for MCI, not an easy switch
  • The pricing of Lukaku
  • No MCI assets which is a bold move
  • Jota and Greenwood are viable short-term assets
  • Wilson and DCL are forwards who are also potential haulers

Of course, this is subject to change but for updates, checkout my twitter rey_qur for my eventual finalised draft.

Good Luck with your drafts and please leave your thoughts and comments.
