UCL Matchday 2 – Limitless Chip Team Reveal – @FantasySilva

Welcome back to our UCL content and we hope you’ve had a great start to the tournament. In this article, I will be discussing my Limitless Team for Matchday 2. Using your Wildcard or Limitless seems to be a pretty popular pick this Matchday, following a few injuries and red cards since Matchday 1, it seems the majority are wanting to reshape their squads.

The Transfer Deadline for Matchday 2 is on Tuesday 28th September at 17:45 (BST).

Here are the fixtures:

My Limitless Team for Matchday 2

Here is my selection for a Matchday 2 using the Limitless Chip. Since you can change players during a Matchday as long as they play on different days, the bench consists of players that all play on the 29th as opposed to the 28th. The idea is to Captain Haller on the 28th and depending on the performance, this could be swapped to either Lewandowski or Ronaldo on the 29th. I’ll give you a reason behind my selected team below:

Goalkeeper

Thibaut Courtois (€6m)

Real Madrid vs Sheriff

With a very favourable fixture for Real Madrid at home, I can certainly see this being a clean sheet against the Moldovan side. A solid keeper and I am expecting the 6 points here.

Defenders

Daley Blind (€5m)

Ajax vs Beşiktaş

Ajax has scored a whopping 30 goals and only conceded once in the Dutch league and that’s only in 7 matches. Following their 5-1 away win to Sporting, I am expecting a clean sheet at home and some additional points from balls recovered in this match.

Éder Militão (€5m)

Real Madrid vs Sheriff

I’ve doubled up on Real Madrid players as I’m pretty confident that they will keep a clean sheet. The Brazilian player also has the potential to get the odd goal from time to time as well so for me, I’m pretty happy with this pick.

Robin Gosens (€5.5)

Atalanta vs Young Boys

The German left-back has the potential to get an attacking return as well. In the 2020-2021 season for Atalanta, he scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists. Although Young Boys beat Man Utd 2-1 in Matchday 1, I can’t see them repeating their luck in this game. Besides, Man Utd got a red card in that game and was playing rather poorly defensively (that Lingard assist is still in my mind). Anyway, a great selection here, I’m expecting at least a clean sheet that’s for sure.

Thomas Meunier (€5m)

Dortmund vs Sporting CP

Meunier provided an assist in the opening game vs Beşiktaş in their 2-1 victory. Let’s hope he provides the goods again and Dortmund gets a clean sheet against the Portuguese club at home. He’s another fairly attacking defender which is just what you want.

Midfielders

Christopher Nkunku (€7.5)

Leipzig vs Club Brugge

The French player scored a hat-trick in the opening game and accumulated a whopping 20 points. So far in the Bundesliga, he’s scored twice and assisted the once in their opening 6 matches. I simply can’t ignore players that are in great form and I sure hope he delivers the goods again in this favourable fixture.

Luka Modrić (€7.5)

Real Madrid vs Sheriff

I know what Modrić is capable of and in this tasty home fixture, I’m certainly hoping he can provide an attacking return. I’d say he’s probably the biggest gamble in my line up but I certainly have great bench cover should he not get a return on the first day of Matchday 2.

Mohamed Salah (€10.5)

Porto vs Liverpool

Salah just had to be in this squad, he’s scored the most points in FPL so far this season and I’m hoping he can be just as good of an asset in UCL. In the Premier League, he’s scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists so far this season and Liverpool are looking very strong at the moment. I just love how attacking Liverpool are and hopefully, he will get on the score sheet in this home fixture against Porto.

Forwards

Sébastien Haller (€8.5)

Ajax vs Beşiktaş

Ajax is on excellent form this season and following his 4 goals (21 points) in Matchday 1, he will be my captain for the first day that’s for sure. In the opening 7 matches for Ajax this season, he has scored 5 and provided 2 assists. Like I’ve mentioned before, I favour players that are in great form and he fits the bill. Let’s hope he can deliver the goods again against Beşiktaş who lost 2-1 to Dortmund in their opening match.

Cristiano Ronaldo (€11)

Man Utd vs Villarreal

Do I need to justify the Portuguese Legend? Probably not, but this guy is a record-breaker. Ronaldo holds the record of scoring the most UEFA club competition goals (137), I could go on and on but for me, this man is essential. Let’s just hope Man Utd provide him with the opportunities he needs to deliver the goods, that’s my only setback here.

Robert Lewandowski (€11.5)

Bayern vs Dynamo Kyiv

The Polish star is one of the best forwards in football at the moment and an absolute gem of a player for Bayern Munich. He scored two in the opening UCL match against Barcelona in their 3-0 victory, just imagine what this guy can deliver at home against a weaker club such as Dynamo Kyiv. No doubt he will be my second choice captain on the second day should Haller not deliver the goods.

Bench Picks

Manuel Neuer (€6m)

A quality backup keeper for the second day should Courtois not keep a clean sheet in which I am hoping for. If Bayern can keep a clean sheet away from home vs Barcelona, I would be very surprised if they couldn’t at home against Dynamo Kyiv.

Frenkie de Jong (€7)

I feel Barcelona need to come back after their opening match 3-0 defeat against Bayern. The Dutch player can certainly provide the attacking returns us UCL Managers love to see and for me, he’s a great bench pick to come on should the players in starting XI not deliver the goods.

Alphonso Davies (€6)

I’ve done a double up on Bayern picks as I’m feeling confident they will keep a clean sheet against Dynamo Kyiv and this player that can offer the odd assist down that left-wing. Certainly a quality pick for this Matchday in my eyes.

Bruno Fernandes (€10.5)

Another great asset for Man United who will feel that they need to win following their 2-1 defeat against Young Boys. Let’s hope Fernandes provides a lot of opportunities for Ronaldo so that us UCL Managers can be rewarded from attacking returns from both of the Portuguese players.
