@FantasyFootyFix will cover the stats below.

Welcome back to “The FPL Way Captaincy Picks” article where I will be discussing The Number One Fantasy Premier League Captain options for the Gameweek ahead, as voted for by the FPL Community captaincy poll on Twitter. I will also be adding the “worthy mentions” player list ahead of the Gameweek.

Let’s get a quick reminder of how we did in GW9. Our top 2 most voted assets had a solid Gameweek. One return out of two. Jamie Vardy, unfortunately, came off at halftime with a knee injury, so no returns for the Englishman. Then we go to The Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah. He managed to return 24 Fantasy Points, three goals and one assist. Incredible form. Looking ahead from Gameweek 9, let’s move forward and take a look at that all-important captaincy decision.

Mohammed Salah sits in 1st place as your favourite captain with % of the vote.

Manchester United 0-5 Liverpool, The Red Devils have now lost four games and drew in their last four games. Liverpool wraps up a super victory over Man United after a masterclass from Salah, who scored a hat-trick. The Red’s led 4-0 at the break, after early goals from Keita and Jota, before a Salah brace made it comfortable for the visitors just before half-time.

Below you will see Mohamed Salah’s heat map against Manchester United. He produced 7 shots and had 4 shot’s on target. All three goals were from inside the box.

As I said, Manchester United are on a poor run of form. They have conceded (11) goals in their last four matches, which is the worst in the league and their Big Chances Conceded (13) is again the worst; joint with Aston Villa. There are many questions asked on whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is up for the job.

Top 2 Candidates Projected Points from GW9-14:

Below you will see the best Overall Projected Points for the next 6 Gameweeks. As you can see, Mohamed Salah leads Gameweek 10 for the most points (6.9) and has the highest overall projected points (40.9) in the fantasy league. His teammate Sadio Mane hits third-best with (5.9) and between the two we have Kevin De Bruyne (6.5). It was interesting to see him on the bench last week so I don’t think the Belgium is totally nailed in that City team. The frustration of the Pep Roulette as always.

Let’s point out some stand out differential’s, Trent Alexander-Arnold is projected (5.5) which is (1.4) less than the leading captain. We have Michail Antonio in the top 10 with a Projected score of 5.2 got himself back on the score sheet last week. His attacking data is still very good, The Jamaican has 6 goals throughout the season which is the 3rd Best in the League. He averages 7.1 fantasy points per game.

Looking at the data above, Mohamed Salah is the clear standout throughout all the Fantasy players. The Egyptian International is in sensational form. He averages 11.9 fantasy points per game, which is incredible.

Below you will see a table providing data for Salah after nine Gameweeks. It clearly show’s that he’s having his best start ever in the Premier League.

Worthy Mention’s:

Kai Havertz (£8.1m –  7.5%)

It was a disappointing Gameweek 8 for those 20,413 managers who brought him. The aim was to target the worst defensive team in the league, Norwich City. After a 7-0 win for The Blue’s, the German International did not produce any returns. As for the starling lineup, all 10 players returned except him. He did manage to return a goal in the league cup against Southampton on Tuesday night though. Chelsea is facing Newcastle United, which I think has every possibility that he’ll bring a return.

Phil Foden (£8.1m – 9.3%)

The Englishman has been in flying form since being back into the team; he has (12) shot’s inside the box in his last four matches, which is 3rd best in the league. Foden has returned two goals and three assists, giving him an average of 8.5 Fantasy Points Per Match.

Ben Chilwell (£5.8m – 12.1%)

After missing 6 game weeks on the bench, Ben Chilwell is back in the first team. In his last three matches, the Englishman has returned three goals and two clean sheets, which averages 11.6 Fantasy Points Per Match. Chelsea is up against a poor Newcastle team; the Magpies have conceded 20 goals this season, which is the 2nd worst in the Premier League.

The six-bar charts I have created show key Attacking Stats for the opponents’ games only, which Highlight’s Liverpool as the team to target. For Big Chances Total (39), they are 1st best in the league. Then we go to Goal’s inside the box (24) which is again 1st best, then you will see Minutes Per Chance (5), 1st best in the League; all fingers are pointing at The Reds. Looking at the data, this is positive news for Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool vs Brighton

Having won their first six Premier League meetings with Brighton, Liverpool picked just one point in their two meetings with the Seagulls last season, losing 1-0 in this exact fixture in February. Following their 1-0 victory at Anfield in February, Brighton is looking to secure back-to-back victories against Liverpool in all competitions for the first time. The Seagulls have won just five of their previous 33 meetings in total against the Reds (Draw 9 and Lost 19).

Liverpool is unbeaten in their last 19 Premier League matches (Won 14 and Draw 5). Liverpool has scored 27 goals in their nine Premier League matches this season, their best tally at this stage of a top-flight season since 1987-88 when they’d scored 28 and went on to win the title.

Mo Salah has been directly involved in nine goals in his eight Premier League games against Brighton (5 goals, 4 assists), only failing to score or against The Seagulls twice (2-1 in November 2019, 0-1 in February last season).

Summary:

What can I say, this whole article is about one player; Mohamed Salah! I found it very hard to compare this incredible player this week, so I wasn’t even going to attempt it. He’s the last man standing amongst those premium attacking assets. Don’t give yourself a headache, just stick the armband on The Egyptian King.

Who will be your captain for Gameweek 10?

I’ll leave that for you!

Thank you and all the best for this weekend.
