The FPL Way Player Picks For GW4

After an uneventful international break where “nothing” dramatic happened that could possibly affect our FPL decisions, let’s have a gander at the player picks! 😅

David Raya (£4.6m / 9.1% / BHA)

Playing for a defence that has been stout so far, Raya has 10 saves and 2 clean sheets rolling into Gameweek 4. Bonus points and multiple save opportunities at home is the play here.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m / 33.7% / lee)

TAA has arguably been underwhelming fantasy-wise with only one assist return to his name so far. However, he has 5 bonus points, 2 clean sheets and will constantly threaten a leaky Leeds defence.

Sergio Reguilón (£5.2m / 12.5% / cry)

The attacking Spaniard has 3 clean sheets for top-of-the-table Spurs. He will have multiple opportunities going forward against a Palace side that are still getting their sea legs under new management. Reguilón is also the 3rd best Spur for FPL points and the top-scoring defender for his club.

Andreas Christensen (£5.0m / 3.1% / AVL)

The Dane is a solid pick and is surely nailed having started all three matches for Chelsea. With Reece James harshly banned, Christensen has the chance to snag a bonus point or two with a nice performance against an unsteady Villa lacking Emiliano Buendia after the international break drama.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m / 53.6% / lee) CAPTAIN

Leeds have conceded 8 goals within a three-match span, tied with Newcastle for third-worst in this category. If you are tied with Newcastle, there’s a problem. Salah will have many chances to capitalize against Leeds, even in an electric atmosphere filled Elland Road.

Diogo Jota (£7.6m / 17.8% / lee)

See above per Salah. 👆 If Liverpool run a riot, the Portuguese man will likely be involved as Roberto Firmino is confirmed unavailable with a hamstring injury. Jota’s underlying stats are great and he’s rested.

Saïd Benrahma (£6.4m / 31.2% / sou)

Even with a blank in his last game, Benrahma has collected 4 bonus and 26 total FPL points in the opening three matches. We expect him to rebound against Southampton.

Adama Traoré (£6.0m / 3.2% / wat)

This pick has nothing to do with Watford and everything to do with the live wire that is Adama Traoré. He’s had SO MANY CHANCES to collect points that it’s shocking he’s sitting with only 6 FPL points. This is an obvious differential pick at his price. He must score, right? RIGHT? 😅

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.2m / 14.8% / BUR)

DCL has scored 3 goals in as many matches, also amassing 5 bonus points as the club’s leading FPL asset. Burnley will try to resist, but we are backing DCL to continue his run of form and break the Burnley defence down at Goodison Park.

Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m / 22% / NEW) VICE-CAPTAIN

After the Friday press conference, it’s still annoyingly murky as to whether Ronaldo starts or is brought in off the bench to his adoring home crowd. Either way, he could easily bag a brace against Newcastle. Just do it and relax.

Michail Antonio (£7.9m / 52.1% / sou)

Easily the Premier League player of the season so far. Antonio is unstoppable, having only missed two minutes of pitch time en route to 13.3 FPL points averaged per match. We were tempted to captain him versus Southampton this week, but with so many enticing matchups for premium assets, went another way. That said, with many managers presumably putting the armband on other pricey players this week, Antonio is a tempting differential captain choice.

GOALKEEPER – Jed Steer (£4.0m / 2.1% / che)

Bargain basement budget option in the absence of Emiliano Martínez. But it’s Chelsea, soooooo… 🥶

DEFENSE – Luke Ayling (£4.5m / 12.5% / LIV)

He’s nailed and capable of the odd return if things get bonkers at Elland Road.

DEFENSE – Brandon Williams (£4.0m / 5.6% / ars)

Played 90 minutes in game week 3. Up against a struggling Arsenal side.

MIDFIELD – Moussa Sissoko (£4.5m / 2.2% / WOL)

Sissoko played 70 minutes in his first match against his former club Spurs last game week in a tight match. He still has gas in the tank, and with Ismaila Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis in attack, will have chances for assists going forward.
