Who Are The Best FPL Players To Own For GW7?

Here are my FPL Way Picks for Gameweek 7 for the 2021-22 season. The deadline for GW7 is on Saturday 2nd October at 11:00 BST.

I will be building a team that I feel will perform well in Gameweek 7. This team uses £97.4m of the £100m budget.

Here are the fixtures for Gameweek 7

Let’s have a look at the top ten teams with the best fixtures, both defensively and offensively

This is how predicted fixture difficulty is rated:

The FPL XV – Who Are the Best Assets to Own in GW7?

I will be going through all the fixtures for my GW7 selection and provide reasons as to why they are featured. As you may already know, Chelsea has some very favourable fixtures from GW7-GW11, so you may not be surprised to see a few of their assets in this team selection. Since I am just focusing on Gameweek 7, and this Gameweek alone; I haven’t featured Salah in my team. Salah’s record against Man City isn’t exactly that bad though, he’s had 12 appearances, 6 goals and 2 assists in the previous meetings. You may also have noticed I’ve selected a few budget Midfielders this week; it seems they’re pretty valuable so far this season and, of course, it has allowed the squad to have Antonio, Ronaldo and Lukaku up front. Anyway, let’s move on to the selection for the week…

José Malheiro de Sá (5.0m)

Wolves vs Newcastle

Wolves have a pretty tasty fixture here, especially since they’re playing at home and Newcastle have only scored 2 goals away from home this season. I know how strong defensively Wolves can be and I understand that they have not shown their true potential so far this season. It could be due to the fact they started the season with a new manager, but nevertheless, I’d have to say that it’s not a bad selection for this Gameweek. Let’s not forget the fact he got an assist against Southampton 😅

Antonio Rüdiger (5.6m)

Chelsea vs Southampton

With the juicy fixtures for Chelsea from GW7-12, you simply can’t ignore their assets. They have kept 4 clean sheets out of 6 so far this season and the 2 games in which they didn’t keep one, was against “top four” teams. For this price, their fixtures, and the fact that Rüdiger has already bagged a goal, this guys is a no-brainer for me.

Marcos Alonso (5.8m)

Chelsea vs Southampton

Alonso used to be quite the essential player, especially in previous seasons. It seems Tuchel is a fan of this guy and with James out with an injury, it certainly adds an additional appeal factor. So far he’s bagged a goal and an assist, which is exactly what you want from a defender. Considering that Chelsea’s fixtures have been pretty tough, they’ve had a great start and can only expect even better things now that their fixtures have become a lot more friendly.

Nélson Cabral Semedo (4.9m)

Wolves vs Newcastle

At only 4.9m and only 3.6% ownership, I feel this is a good selection for this Gameweek. If your budget doesn’t allow it, you could potentially go for Coady instead. Since I’ve selected two Wolves defending assets, let’s hope they get a clean sheet and managers can be rewarded for having this player. For me, he’s the most likely defender to start for Wolves at the moment.

Ismaila Sarr (6.2m)

Leeds vs Watford

So this guy has bagged 24 points in the last 2 GW’s and has been a regular feature in our scout picks. Leeds have already conceded 14 goals and I’m pretty sure this guy will add another one to his tally in this fixture.

Conor Gallagher (5.7m)

Crystal Palace vs Leicester

Gallagher has looked like a quality player for Palace and could be a nice selection for managers on a long-term basis. He’s bagged 2 goals and provided 2 assists and for only 5.7m, you can’t really go wrong, can you?

Saïd Benrahma (6.5m)

West Ham vs Brentford

An absolute quality player this fella has been so far this season, his price rise from 6.0m to 6.5m says it all really. So far he’s scored 3 goals and 2 assists. At first, I wasn’t too sure how Brentford’s defence would be, but following the 3-3 draw, I feel they can leak goals against tougher opponents. I wouldn’t be surprised if Benrahma gets an attacking return in this fixture, I’m certainly keeping the faith in the Algerian star.

Raphael Dias Belloli (6.5m)

Leeds vs Watford

Raphinha got 8 points in each of the two previous fixtures. There was a doubt that he wouldn’t play the previous game but if you kept hold of him; I’m sure you’ll be pretty happy right now. He’s scored 3 goals and with a favourable home fixture, I would expect him to get a few more attacking returns.

Michail Antonio (7.9m)

West Ham vs Brentford

How could you not have the player that has averaged 9.4 points per game in your team? What a guy this player has been, 5 goals (joint top goalscorer) and 4 assists (2nd best), do I need to say more? Another favourable fixture here and I’ll certainly be keeping him in my squad for this game.

Cristiano Ronaldo (12.7m)

Man Utd vs Everton

Following a very disappointing blank against Villa, I’m pretty certain that will be a one-off. For me, this is the player that loves beating records and it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if he got the golden boot this season. The Portuguese legend has scored 3 goals in 3 games and I’m sure Man Utd will want to get back to winning ways. I am one of those FPL Managers that will be keeping the faith in this guy, even though the FDR turns for the worst, honestly, it’s Ronaldo man!

Romelu Lukaku (11.7m)

Chelsea vs Southampton

With Chelsea’s awesome upcoming fixtures and a potential captain for Lukaku for the next 6 Gameweeks, how could you not have him in your team this Gameweek, let alone not the following five? Lukaku has scored 3 goals so far and they haven’t exactly had the best of fixtures. Imagine the sort of damage this guy can do against some of the weaker clubs! I know some of you would remember the days in which he played for Everton and was bagging a few hat-tricks, imagine what he can do now…

Our Bench Picks

Ben Foster (4.0m)

At only 4.0m and currently starting for Watford with Daniel Bachmann out, he’s simply bench fodder with a likely start at a low cost; an enabler.

Demarai Gray (5.8m)

A surprise gem so far, at only 5.8 and providing 3 goals and an assist, I just had to feature him. Could be a difficult game against Man Utd but I’d still start him if he was in my own squad.

Ben White (4.4m)

After an impressive win in the London Derby where Arsenal beat Spurs 3-1, could this be the turnaround they needed? I sure think so. Arsenal has kept 2 CS in the last 3 matches and have some nice upcoming fixtures. Definitely a class budget defender in my eyes.

Conor Coady (4.5m)

Another great value pick here, a player who has only missed 4 minutes so far this season. If you need the funds to upgrade your team elsewhere, then this is a great pick if you are looking for a Wolves defender.
